What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of optimising a website so it appears on page 1 in the search engines (primarily Google) for the search phrases prospects who do NOT know of the website or business use, when searching for the products and services that the business and website attempt to sell.
- These results appear in the organic listings, not the paid listings and not the maps listings
- The idea with this is that when people are searching for your client’s products, they find the client’s business we are doing SEO for first and contact them about doing business.
- In positioning your website on the top of Google for the keywords people use when searching for the their products and services, they will enjoy free targeted traffic from the search engines
- Another part of SEO, often ignored, is optimising your brand on search engines when people are specifically researching that business. Part of this is reputation management, however SEO itself should help this by providing quality content on business directories and other properties when they directly represent the brand. These elements of SEO should not be inaccurate as this can have a negative impact on this. This is why you are required to quality check these parts of the campaign

- SEO does not do anything outside the relationship between the search engines and websites
- Typically (but not always) this translates into an improvement in traffic to the website
- Assuming a successful campaign does send more traffic to a website, the next limitation of SEO is that it does not take responsibility for converting that search traffic into more or better leads. In fact, the implementation of an SEO campaign may even work against this
- Conversion rate optimisation is the service which can create value. This can be invaluable when working together with meaningful SEO
- SEO does not build a database for prospect nurturing. Nor does it nurture
- SEO is not part of a sales process either it does not convert leads to sales
- The major players can also randomly change the rules, resulting in degradation of results. You should be prepared for this in the off chance Google has a major shift in the future

AOG Design cannot guarantee any specific search engine rankings, listings on search engines or directories listings. We are unable to manipulate or control search engine results.
Due to ever-changing search engine algorithms, the process of ranking can take anywhere from a few months to a year before showing any significant results. Your rankings will fluctuate, as the ranking algorithms are constantly being tweaked by Google to deliver the best product their consumers.
Through our SEO services AOG Design works towards increasing targeted traffic to the customer’s website over a period of time using Search Engine Marketing (SEM) strategies and other strategies as agreed to by the client.
Some of these services could include, but are not limited to: keyword research, meta tag optimisation, link optimisation, image optimisation, social media marketing, XML sitemap creation, inbound links, submitting website to general and vertical directories, utilisation of Google products: Search Console and Google Analytics and more.
SEO is a constantly changing industry and it is impossible for any business or organisation to guarantee any high rankings for a website or webpage.
Be wary of SEO services companies or organisations that promise guarantees on specific rankings in search engines. Google explicitly warns against companies that make such promises.
Please note, a new website may get a temporary boost in the search engine results pages, this is known as the ‘new site boost’, but it will eventually settle into it’s real position. Also, your site traffic can drop after a website relaunch and it can take a few months for traffic to rise again.
This time allows for search engines to re-crawl the new pages of a site and index those pages for search results. Traffic can also drop due to lack of SEO for the site, poor hosting or server issues, 404 issues or more.
While we take as many measures as we can to help your site avoid a drop in traffic, we are not responsible for any traffic reduction that may occur.
